RV Studio makes iPhone apps for specific fields — the kind with their own vocabulary, their own instruments, and no software that quite fits. Each one is built for people who already know the subject, and translated properly so it speaks their language.
What we make
Every craft has a handful of jobs that general-purpose software does badly. Reading a measurement. Timing a process. Keeping a record that still makes sense six months later. The people doing that work usually end up improvising — a notes file, a kitchen timer, a chart printed off a forum in 2009.
We take one field at a time, learn how people actually work in it, and build the small set of tools it has been improvising around. Enthusiasts and professionals want the same thing here: something that assumes you know what you are doing.
How we design
Inventive where it counts
We would rather rethink a tool than reskin one. But an idea has to survive contact with real use — if it does not make the job quicker in the field, it does not ship.
Practical everywhere else
Opens fast, works with one thumb, readable in bad light. These apps get used standing outside in the cold, not sitting at a desk.
Properly localized
Interface, terminology and formats translated for each language we ship — not run through a machine at the end. A tool that talks past you is not much of a tool.

RV Studio is one person — Eric Wei. Works in data science, shoots and develops film, and repairs mid-century cameras.
